SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE | Bologna
SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE Travel Guide
Sant'Agata Bolognese is a village of 7,283 inhabitants in the province of Bologna.
As evidenced by some findings found in the area, the first settlements date back to the Bronze Age, but it is with the advent of the Roman Empire that it begins to develop.
Here was found, among the other finds, an entire villa that still contained many well-preserved objects, now visible in the Palazzo Comunale.
Instead, the current structure of the historic center dates back to the medieval period, during which it was a fortified village.
what to see and what to do in SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE - The Land of Motors
Entering Sant'Agata Bolognese you can't help but notice Porta Otesia, from the seventeenth century, which today has become the symbol of the village; in the inside you can still admire a sixteenth-century clock. At its side is the Oratory of the Holy Spirit, which houses interesting works, both pictorial and sculptural. Very beautiful the Teatro Bibiena, of the eighteenth century, whose main feature is its small size, in fact there are only 100 seats inside.
For those who love walking, not far from Sant'Agata Bolognese, just 12 kilometers away, there is the Area di Riequilibrio "Torrazzuolo", a naturalistic area of more than 115 hectares: inside it there are many paths that cross the woods plain and marshy area, dotted with canals and small lakes that have become the natural habitat of an ever-increasing variety of birds, such as the heron, the coot or the mallard, and also many mammals; the main characteristic of the Torrazzuolo, however, is the presence of the European marsh tortoise.
But Sant'Agata Bolognese is known above all for being the city of Lamboghini. Here in fact there is one of the museums dedicated to the world of engines, as there are many in what is now known all over the world as the Motor Valley. Here in Sant'Agata you can visit the Lamborghini Museum, which retraces the most significant stages of the brand, with an exhibition designed to have a strong impact on all motor lovers. Inside the Museum you can admire supercars such as the 350 GT or the Espada, which inspired the Delorean, the famous car of the film "Back to the Future", but also photos, projects and engines that offer a complete overview of one of the most famous Italian motor brands. Moreover, it is possible to take a guided tour of the production lines to find out how a real Lamborghini is born.
