There's a story of two thousand years for the spas in the territory of Bologna, starting with the emperor Adriano who built the public thermal baths, probably in the Saragozza district.
This tradition continued in the nineteenth century with the Corticella and Casaglia spas were very well-travelled but todays are no longer open.
Nowaday the spas of PORRETTA and those of CASTEL SAN PIETRO, the both with a long tradition as spa resort , are among the most important in this region .

SPA of Porretta Terme
In the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the Terme di Porretta, open from March to January, provide an excellent setting from a natural, gastronomic and recreational point of view to high-quality spa treatments, based on research and on the quality of the water and sludge used.
The Terme di Porretta have sulphurous and salsobromoiodic waters that guarantee an excellent therapeutic action in the prevention and treatment of rhinogenous deafness and in general in otolaryngological diseases, in the skin, respiratory, osteoarticular, gastrointestinal, of that female genital and finally in the vascular system.

Castel San Pietro Terme in Bologna - the SPA
Castel San Pietro is famous for its thermal waters, which originate from the sulfur and salt-bromo-iodic sources present on the territory.
