SANCTA AGATHA BOLONENSIS - Bologna

Guide to SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE

Sant’Agata Bolognese is a town of 7,283 inhabitants in the province of Bologna.

As some artifacts found in the area attest, the first settlements date back to the Bronze Age, but it was with the advent of the Roman Empire that it began to develop.

Here, among other artifacts, an entire villa was found that still contained many well-preserved objects, now visible in the Town Hall.

Instead, the current structure of the historic center dates back to the medieval period, when it was a fortified village.

WHAT TO SEE AND WHAT TO DO IN SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE - Land of Motors

Entering Sant’Agata Bolognese, one cannot help but notice Porta Otesia, from the 17th century, which has become the symbol of the town; inside, one can still admire a clock from the 16th century. Next to it is the Oratory of the Holy Spirit, which houses interesting works, both paintings and sculptures. Very beautiful is the Teatro Bibiena, from the 18th century, whose main characteristic is its reduced size; inside, there are only 100 seats.
For those who love walks, just 12 kilometers from Sant’Agata Bolognese, is the Area of Rebalancing of the “Torrazzuolo,” a naturalistic area of over 115 hectares: within it, there are many paths that cross the flatland forest and the marshy area, dotted with canals and small lakes that have become the natural habitat of an increasingly diverse variety of birds, such as the little egret, the coot, or the common moorhen, and of mammals; the main characteristic of the Torrazzuolo, however, is the presence of the European pond turtle.
But Sant’Agata Bolognese is known above all for being the city of Lamborghini. Here, in fact, is one of the museums dedicated to the world of engines, as there are many in what is now known around the world as the Motor Valley. Here in Sant’Agata, it is possible to visit the Lamborghini Museum, which retraces the most significant milestones of the House of the Bull, with an exhibition designed to have a strong impact on all car enthusiasts. Inside the Museum, one can admire supercars like the 350 GT or the Espada, which inspired the DeLorean, the famous car from the film “Back to the Future,” as well as photos, projects, and engines that offer a complete overview of one of the most famous Italian car manufacturers. Moreover, it is possible to take a guided tour of the production lines to discover how a real Lamborghini is born.
