ALBERGATI PALACE MUSEUMS OF BOLOGNA
ALBERGATI PALACE

The palace was built by the Albergati family starting from 1519 on the foundations of previous residential buildings located on Via Saragozza.
The architectural authorship is disputed by experts between Baldassarre Peruzzi and Domenico Aimo da Varignana.
The building has a simple facade, without architectural orders, measuring almost 55 meters in length, with stone windows on the main floor featuring Ionic-style niches and lower windows without a tympanum.
The complex is divided into two parts, one to the west belonging to the senatorial branch of the Albergati family and the other to the east to the secondary branch.
In the palace rooms one can admire frescoes and statues by Francesco Gessi (Bologna 1588 - 1649), Andrea Sirani (1610–1670), and Bartolomeo Cesi (1556-1629).
At the end of the nineteenth century the Bersani family (one of whose descendants is the sculptor Camillo Bersani) acquired the palace from the heirs of Francesco Cesare, the last of the Albergati.
Warhol and Friends. New York in the '80s

In Bologna, lights are focused on 1980s New York with the Warhol&Friends exhibition. New York in the 1980s.
From September 29, 2018, to February 24, 2019, at Palazzo Albergati in Bologna, around 150 works that tell the story of Warhol, his life, and his production are on display. But not only that.
Among tales of excesses, transgression, and high society, the protagonists of the vibrant artistic climate of a perpetually new New York, such as Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat (this year marks the thirtieth anniversary of his death), Francesco Clemente, Keith Haring, Julian Schnabel, and Jeff Koons, with approximately 150 works from September 29, will be at Palazzo Albergati in Bologna in the Warhol&Friends exhibition. New York in the 1980s.
Often described as the decade of disenchantment and superficiality, the 1980s have their way of making politics through an explosion of colors and figures where art is more than just a visual experience.
To recount the irrepeatable ferment of a decade that saw art, music, cinema, and literature come together - at a time when galleries and the international market proclaimed the spectacular success of the return to painting - Warhol, Haring with Untitled (1983), Schnabel with Dunciad (Trances of Bouboul) from 1983, Koons with Art Magazine Ads (1989), Basquiat with Untitled (1983), and Bertoglio with Grace Jones and Madonna (1983) are arriving in Bologna, to name just a few.
On display with 36 works and 38 Polaroids, Andy Warhol, who after being a victim of a terrible attack in 1968, right at the beginning of the 1980s, returns to the center of New York's artistic and social life by creating some of his most interesting cycles on display, such as Shoes, Hammer & Sickle, Camouflage, Lenin, Joseph Beuys, Vesuvius, Knives.
With the patronage of the Emilia Romagna Region and the City of Bologna, the Warhol&Friends. New York in the 1980s exhibition is produced and organized by the Arthemisia Group and curated by Luca Beatrice.
